Former Phoenix Sun Becomes Sacramento Mayor

He had the support of Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley as well as the city of Sacramento. Former Phoenix Sun point guard Kevin Johnson won the mayoral race for the city. Johnson was running against incumbent Heather Fargo, who had completed two terms.

 

"Sacramento also made history today in electing its first black mayor," Johnson told the press. "Both Obama and myself, we ran on a promise and the theme of change. No more business as usual."
