Home Sweet Home Chicken & Waffles Opens in South Phoenix

 Watch out Lo-Lo's and Mrs. White's!  A new soul food joint is in town and they are serving up home cooked meals that will make you want to treat Mom DUKES!!  What started out as Home Sweet Home Catering got SO good to SO many folks,  owners Calvin and Sheila Lawson went on ahead and opened up a restaurant  everyone can enjoy.  Home Sweet Home Chicken and Waffles opened to the public on Saturday September 13th on 16th Street & Southern ( Safeway Plaza). 

The Write Up will not be caught slippin' when it comes to good soul food in the valley, so we had to put Home Sweet Home to the test. The made to order fried chicken & waffles... as big as your plate will have your stomach on full, and your taste buds screamin' with delight. But don't stop with the chicken and waffles. The fried catfish will take you back home!! Almost every dish on the menu is named after someone in the family to make you feel like you just left the kitchen. If you're lookin' to get a good breakfast to hold you down for the day, choose from a variety of dishes where eggs, grits, and waffles are a staple. Add a sausage patty or a chicken wing here and there and start your day off on full, and fortified wit a dose of home.  Come back on in for lunch or dinner where you can always find some more chicken and waffles along with some good ole Mac n cheese, greens, and corn bread. Of course, they have the candied yams, fried okra, red beans and rice, and smothered potatoes on deck for those with heartier appetites…or for those with bigger cravings for a home cooked meal.  Desserts: Choose from Aunt Virginia’s Red Velvet Cake, Debra’s Peach Cobbler, Butler’s Sweet Potato Pie, or Rick’s Carrot Cake! All of which are SLAMMIN!  The portions?  Healthy!!   Home Sweet Home ,..lets just say… it is difficult to finish everything on your plate.  They don’t call it Home Sweet Home for nothing.
