Stepping the game up to a whole new level!

Have you ever heard the saying....enough is enough? For years Abdul Levon watched people of other ethnicities come into the community and start businesses for profit. I know what your’e thinking....that’s why you start a business .... to make a profit. Let me break it down...there are people who come into the community to make money but the difference is they treat their customers like crap. We are only good for the money in their eyes. For example, how many times have you shopped at a store and they follow you wherever you go as if you are going to steal something . That is the most unnerving feeling a person can go through. Well business owner Abdul Levon is bringing a touch of class to the SOUTH SIDE! He purchased a nice size building on the corner of 24th St. and Roeser in the heart of South Phoenix. This brutha has actually invested in the community he grew up in. I asked Mr. Levon , why South Phoenix ? His response was , "Why not ? It is time to put a positive spin on black owned businesses in South Phoenix. So many times people get caught up in the take it this is all you got mentality and its time to give the people something better. This is the kind of shop that you can bring the lil kids to and not have to worry about foul language,

marijuana smoke and other negative images that are sometimes displayed in barber shops. The 1,500 square foot braiding salon/barbershop has a smooth wood floor with flat screens nestled in the corners of the wall. Yes... he has cable. The space offers a positive cultural experience where everyone can come in and talk and not feel smothered. The one thing that is admirable about Mr. Levon is his desire to offer the best for his customers. In a time when the economy is at an all time low he understands that people are a lil’ short with the chedda . This is why you won’t find one mens haircut over $10. Yes you read it right ... $10 BUCKS! Mr. Levon believes offering $10 cuts all day every day will help the community have more resources for food and rising gas prices. Mr. Levon is not just stopping there, on his property he is also going to be opening a BBQ spot that will be opening in October , God willing . The same philosophy will be instilled in the BBQ business as well . Only the best for the community...after all , we deserve it. The Write Up wants to encourage everyone to pay a visit to 24th Street Braid and Fade and see the new addition to the community. I’m sure Mr. Levon will be there to greet you with a smile and tell him Bizzle sent ya. I personally would like to thank other businesses in South Phoenix that are doing their thang. Lets RESURRECT SOUTH PHOENIX one business at a time! On that note I’m outta here!!!
