Whats Good Everybody? Back in the day I used to be an avid viewer of BET’s 106 & Park when AJ and Free ruled the airwaves. But, now it is not the same with these wanna be black girl hosts that are not BLACK. If BET is a channel made for Blacks why can’t they get a black female host alongside the the black male host.

Word on the street is that the struggling BET network is slowly veering away from black women as hosts in order to remain competitive with other networks?

A new report has emerged that alleges that the network that’s brought us such landmark shows featuring all black hosts like "Video Soul" and "Caribbean Rhythms" is starting to focus on non black talent because apparently black women aren’t viewed as marketable. Allegedly: Executives at the network don’t think a Black woman can sell a show and non-black women are laughing and joking that they have a better opportunity for employment at the network than Black women.

Lets take a look at all of BET’s current female hosts. Sharon Carpenter, who is half Indian and half White, has been given a show to host (BET News). Rocsi, the co-host of 106 and Park is of Honduran decent and Julissa, the host of the now defunct "College Center" was Puerto Rican. At the present time there is no all black female currently hosting any BET program. For heavens sake lets just change the name BET into MET. Yes, for all of you that rode the short yellow bus MET stands for Multi-Cultural Entertainment Television.

This one jeweler out of New Orleans was suing Lil Wayne because back in October of ’07 Weezy copped a $138,000 diamond ring and a $32,000 gold-and-diamond necklace, but only paid the man $24,000.00 for the ice. See, Weezy and the jeweler had worked out a payment plan, but Weezy didn’t stick to it so the dude sued his butt. Anyway, this past Tuesday [Aug 12] they reached an agreement and Weezy is supposed return the $138,000 ring and pay off the rest of balance sometime this week. And speaking of Weezy paying off his balances, they say he got a federal tax lien filed against him for owing $977,840.81 in income tax. A milli... A milli... A milli... A milli......now I see where that song came from.

Before I bounce out of here this month I would like to give a shot out to black businesses all across the nation. It is hard to compete in this tore up economy so we must support each other so that we all can overcome. If we don’t support each other we will continue to see the downward curve in black owned businesses going out of business. I know speaking for the Arizona market and the statistics from a national view we are losing momentum and we must help one another. The Write Up appreciates your support of our advertisers and we ask that you continue patronizing them.

Hey Bizzle,
Your column is always informative and entertaining. I was thinking maybe you can create a black business directory, and challenge everyone to call one before they call another business owner or big corporation. Maybe have a place where we can post comments and referrals on black businesses. Maybe even give incentives and prizes to individuals who do business with the most black business within a month. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work Bizzle.
